Dear CANZ member,

As CANZONA 2008 & 2009 are being worked on currently, I would like to invite you to submit a list of your premieres for 2008 & 2009.

NOTES:
1) Please send this information as plain text in the body of an email.
2) Please only send pieces that received their first performance in calendar years 2008 or 2009
3) Please put each entry on a new line.
4) Please format each entry in the following way (note full-stops between information):
Title (include separate entry for lyricist). Instrumentation. Performer(s). Full Date (Day Month Year). Venue, including country if overseas, and festival name if in festival.

Percussion Workshop and NZSO Todd Corporation Young Composer Awards workshop

A special invitation to all composers for a percussion workshop with NZSO Principal Percussionist Lenny Sakofsky as part of the NZSO /Todd Corporation Young Composer Awards workshop.

What’s the Young Composers Meeting?

This meeting is organized by orkest de ereprijs in collaboration with the International Gaudeamus Music Week (Composition Competition) in co-operation with Cultural Center Gigant and Markant. The intention of the Meeting is to give young composers the opportunity to exchange ideas about contemporary music and at the same time being part of the learning process of composing with an ensemble at hand.
Directors will be: Martijn Padding, Richard Ayres and others. Gerda van Zelm, professor at the Royal Conservatory Den Haag will be coaching the singers. The meeting will be chaired and supervised by Louis Andriessen.
The senior composers will also teach individually and take care of the lectures. The program will furthermore consist of concerts, lectures, movies and an excursion.

Opportunity for Composers of Opera: New Zealand Opera School

The New Zealand Opera School is seeking submissions from composers with an existing opera or part of an opera work yet to be completed, which has not previously been realised in a public performance. Through the success and ongoing development of the School it is offering to workshop a one act opera or part of a large scale work with selected students. The chosen work will be rehearsed over the course of the week under the musical guidance of Michael Vinten and Bruce Greenfield. This will lead to a public performance, staged by Sara Brodie, at the Wanganui Opera House.

Submissions of scores and any supporting material should be sent to 12 Rodney Avenue, Te Horo Beach, 5581 Kapiti Coast by September 31st, 2010. Candidates will be informed by 10th January 2011.
