Information on CANZ Projects
CANZ work on a number of projects every year. Here are a sample of the projects we’re currently working on:
- CANZ will represent New Zealand composers at the Asian Composers League festival and conference in Tokyo and Yokohama, in November 2014. We apply for funding to support a younger composer attend the festival, to have a composition performed there. We will also send an official delegate, who will present a report on New Zealand compositional activity in the last year. We believe developing links with composers in the Asia-Pacific region is very important, in terms of stimulating ideas and raising our composers’ profiles abroad.
- CANZ is always striving to improve opportunities for its members. One of the ways we do this is to lobby funding bodies such as Creative NZ and APRA, to make sure composers are getting a fair share of the money available. At present we are lobbying to establish more residencies for composers, following on from the success of the new residency at the New Zealand School of Music.
If you wish to contact us regarding any of these projects, or any projects you think CANZ should be involved in, please contact us at: <info@canz.net.nz>.
