International Study of Women Composers

The Creative Workforce Initiative (Curtin University, Western Sydney University, Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) are currently undertaking research to understand the challenges and opportunities facing women composers.

Very little is known about the working lives of composers and we know even less about composers who are women.
This makes it hard to advocate for changes to funding, education and support. This study will create a unique picture of work. The “evidence” it creates will start to achieve these aims.

The group is looking for participants to commit to three medium-length surveys. The second and third of these will be informed by what is received in the first survey. It is important to commit to all three.
