The Daniel International Young Composers Competition welcomes original
orchestral compositions from young composers the world over. The goal of the
competition is to encourage the creation of orchestral works that seek to
communicate with today’s audience in a challenging manner. The competition
provides an opportunity for young composers to launch or further their musical
careers before a prestigious international audience.

The Daniel Competition is the first of its kind to take place in Israel, home to
world famous philharmonic orchestras and host to prominent international music
festivals and competitions. The prestigious Ra’anana Symphony Orchestra
under the general management of Orit Fogel and musical directing of Rafi
Kadishson will play the winning compositions on June 25th, 2008, with finalists in
attendance.

1st Prize $2500 and a live performance
2nd Prize $1500 and a live performance
3rd Prize a live performance
Finalists will attend the gala concert in Israel on June 25th, 2008. Flight and
accommodation will be paid by the DIYCC organizers.
The inaugural theme for the first year competition is the Biblical Book of
Daniel, whose enduring themes and images have inspired paintings, stories,
poems and songs throughout history. Original compositions submitted to the
competition should capture the spirit of the Book of Daniel in a way that the
composer senses it.
