CONCERT OF REMEMBRANCE – 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF KRISTALLNACHT

‘Kristallnacht’ or Night of Broken Glass refers to 9 November 1938 when organised anti-Jewish riots began in Germany and Austria. Vector Wellington Orchestra begins the world-wide commemorations of this significant event.

The VWO will play Brahms’ German Requiem and Israeli composer Boris Pigovat’s poignant Holocaust Requiem, written in remembrance of his grandparents and aunt – victims of the Babiy Yar massacre. Pigovat is making a special trip to New Zealand to be present for the performance.
