CALL FOR SCORES: 2011 ACL YOUNG COMPOSERS COMPETITION

New Zealand has a proud history of success at the ACL Young Composers Competition. We have had numerous first placings, including five in the last ten festivals.

We are now seeking entries for the 2011 festival, from CANZ members born after 26 November 1980, to represent New Zealand at the Asian Composers League Young Composers Competition being held in Taipei, Taiwan during the ACL Festival (26 Nov – 3 Dec 2011).

The selected composer will be sent to Taiwan courtesy of CANZ and Creative New Zealand, and the cost of their accommodation and some meals will be covered by the Asian Composers League. The overall winner from all selected countries will receive US$1000 as well as an additional (non-paid) commission for a future festival. Second and third placings also receive smaller cash prizes.

ENTRY DETAILS:
Duration: 8-13 mins.
Instrumentation: 1-8 instrumentalists from 1111-1110-2Perc.-Hp.-Piano-2111
Submission format: A single copy of the full score, bound and double-sided are preferred. Programme notes and recordings are optional but may be provided.
If selected, parts will need to be provided by 1 June 2011.
CANZ Membership: Entrants should be members of CANZ, or include a CANZ membership form and fee with their submissions (see http://www.canz.net.nz/joincanz.html for details)
