The Composers Forum at the VSMF is currently accepting students for its 2018 season which will take place from June 11 – 30th. There are currently 20 slots available and applications will close March 15th. Priority will be given to students who apply early.

Participants will:

– Have their music performed by PHACE, a professional contemporary music ensemble, at the VSMF Contemporary Music Concerts at the end of the festival;

– Work directly with PHACE and have their compositions workshopped by the faculty;

– Receive professional recordings of their pieces;

– Attend private lessons with leading Viennese composers;

– Attend seminars and travel to historically important locations in Vienna and its surrounding cities;

– Participate in masterclasses with visiting guests such as: Beat Furrer, Johannes Maria Staud, Pierluigi Billone, Irister Schiphorst, and Bernhard Lang;

– Compete to have an orchestral piece performed. The winner will receive a performance of her/his orchestral composition in Prague.
