Creative New Zealand/Jack C. Richards Composer-in-Residence at NZSM 2018-2019

Composers are invited to apply for the position of Creative New Zealand Composer-in- Residence at the New Zealand School of Music 2018–19.
Applicants should hold a current New Zealand passport or have been residing in New Zealand for the 12 months prior to the application deadline, and be composers of proven merit. The appointment will be for twelve months from 1 July 2018 to 31 June 2019, with a salary in the range of NZ$60,000–$70,000.

Partner organisations include: Orchestra Wellington, Lilburn Residence Trust, Centre for New Zealand Music (SOUNZ), Wai-te- ata Music Press, as well as numerous Wellington-based performers and ensembles who have expressed interest in working with the successful candidate.

The application should comprise a single application document (in either PDF or Microsoft Word format), that includes the following four sections, ideally in the following order:

1) A current CV, which must include your contact details, qualifications, compositional experience,
current employment status and a list of selected compositional output.

2) A Work Proposal. See below for more details.

3) A URL (or list of URLs) to an online portfolio/showreel of no more than 4 representative works. Notated compositions should include links to both scores and recordings. Music scores should be viewable/downloadable in PDF format, and recordings in either MP3, AIFF or WAV format. Audiovisual works can be hosted via an online video service such as Vimeo or YouTube.

4) Confirmation that you are a New Zealand citizen or that you hold New Zealand residency, such as a scan of your current NZ passport.
