LONDON EAR FESTIVAL 21 -24 March, 2013

London Ear Festival of Contemporary Music is a new international event, and is London’s only festival dedicated entirely to contemporary classical music.

It will present music by established, emerging and undiscovered composers from several countries.

As well concerts by world class performers and opportunities for advanced young performers, the festival is to host a major international composers’ competition.

COMPOSERS’ COMPETITION, 2013
The competition is divided into two categories

a) Pieces for ensemble
b) Pieces for solo piano

Submissions are invited from composers of any age, and of all nationalities.

Prizes will be awarded in both categories as follows:

1st Prize: £1000, performance at the London Ear Festival,
and publication by Verlag Neue Musik, Berlin of the winning piece.

2nd Prize: £500, and a performance of the piece at the London Ear Festival

The prize-winning pieces will be performed by Uroboros Ensemble and Ian Pace (piano)

The performances of the winning pieces will be recorded and, subject to agreement by all parties,
will be released as a download on the Sargasso label.

The four finalists (two in each category) will be invited to stay in London as guests of the Festival for the night of the performance of their pieces.

There will be two international juries: one for the ensemble category to be chaired by Michael Finnissy, and one for the piano category to be chaired by Ian Pace.

Full details of the competition, and a submission form, can be found on the London Ear Festival website: http://www.londonearfestival.co.uk
