II MAGISTRALIA COMPETITION FOR MUSICAL CREATION FOR WOMEN

Magistralia Foundation organizes the second edition of this biannual competition, aimed at improving the presence of women in classical music.

The competition is open to women composers of all nationalities and ages, who will be able submit original compositions for symphonic orchestras of 10 to 15 minutes of length before Mach 31st 2008. Bases for appliance can be downloaded at www.fundacionmagistralia.com/concurso
This initiative from Magistralia held in its first edition over a hundred works from Europe, Asia, America and Oceania. The winner was the Italian composer Alessandra Bellino, with the piece “Le gabbie di Danae”, world premiere performed by the Symphonic Orchestra of Castilla y Leon in April 2007.

Alessandra Bellino will be a member of the jury in this second edition, among other prestigious women from the worldwide cultural spectrum, such as the composer and conductress Odaline de la Martínez, the Composition Professor at the Conservatory of Paris Graciane Finzi, or the Spanish composers Anna Bofill and Zulema de la Cruz.
