CALL FOR SCORES: ACL YOUNG COMPOSER COMPETITION at the 31ST ACL CONFERENCE & FESTIVAL IN SINGAPORE, 20-24 September 2013

New Zealand has a proud history of success at the Asian Composers League Young Composers Competition.

Eligible CANZ members (those born after 20 September 1983) are invited to submit a work for consideration for this year’s Competition. CANZ will select one composer to represent New Zealand at the ACL Young Composers Competition to be held in Singapore.

CANZ will apply for funding for the selected composer to attend the festival. The cost of their accommodation and some meals will be covered by the Asian Composers League. The overall winner from all selected countries will receive US$1000 as well as an additional (non-paid) commission for a future festival. Second and third placings may also receive smaller cash prizes.

A jury of no fewer than three CANZ members will decide on the selected composer by April 22.

Instrumentation

Duration
8-10 minutes

Conditions for submissions
The selected composer must be under the age of 30 (born after 20 September, 1983).
Please note that 2012 CANZ memberships expire on 31/3/2013, and members will need to have paid their 2013 subscription fees to be eligible for this call for scores.
