The SMCO-SOUNZ Composer Workshop is a collaboration between the St Matthews Chamber Orchestra and SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music. The aim is to create a collection of high quality resources for composers, non-professional orchestras and orchestra directors. The project will deliver a documentary resource that will be streamable on the SOUNZ website, a workshop with the composers and a concert performance.

SOUNZ is calling for submissions from Auckland-based composers, who are willing to attend and take part in rehearsals, a workshop and video interviews. We strongly encourage secondary and tertiary students, as well as established composers, to apply.

The work may have been performed before and should be a maximum of eight minutes duration.

Submissions must reach SOUNZ no later than 5pm, 30 April 2015. No late entries will be accepted.

All composers who submit scores will be advised of the panel’s selections by late May 2015.
