AL QUDS COMPOSITION AWARD 2013

Please find attached some information about this year’s Al Quds Composition Award launched by the new Al Quds University College of Music Project.

The Award was successfully introduced for the first time in 2012 with participants from all around the world. First winner was the Austrian composer Stefan Heckel with his musical creation inspired by Meena Alexander’s poem “Impoossible Grace”.

This year the award aims to encourage again the creation of high quality chamber music works, which include elements of Oriental and/or Western European music combined with human voice.
Participants will have the chance to choose between an Arabic or English version of the poem “Qais, Majnoun Laila” by the internationally renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Abu Hashash.
